Methods used in morphometric analysis of singers’ vocal tracts: an integrative review

ABSTRACT Purpose To describe the main quantitative methods used for morphometric analysis of vocal tract in singers, their applications and segments studied. Research strategy This is an integrative review guided by guiding question “What are tract, studied singers?”. The electronic databases PubMed, Scopus VHL were through search key (Vocal OR Oropharynx) AND (Morphology Geometry) (Evaluation Diagnosis) (voice), without restriction years publication, including articles three languages: Portuguese, English Spanish. Selection criteria selection took place independently reading pairs subsequent application exclusion inclusion criteria. Results Of 380 studies, 30 duplicates excluded. After abstracts, applying criteria, 18 studies selected full reading, which 12 included this review. Magnetic resonance imaging was instrument analyzed ranged from length volume to isolated morphological particularities. Conclusion Vocal quantification important instrumental evaluation its segments, a technological update leading better understanding singers’ voice therapeutical intervention.
